More pictures from this months Volksworld

Last week we finished a partial respray of Pete's Marine Blue Beetle. The bonnet and decklid were sand blaseted by Harrogate Sand Blasting Company before being resprayed, and she also has 4 new wings and freshly painted front and rear valences. We also stone chipped and waxoiled her chassis, so she should stay looking just as lovely for years to come!

John Hutchinson finished rebuilding his Bay, which we resprayed for him a few months ago. We think she's looking great! Unfortunately he's putting her up for sale now as he's now bought himself a splitty!

Well, what an exciting morning! We opened the post today to find our new copy of Volksworld had been delivered, and on the front cover is Andrew Mearn's '54 Oval, which we have been working on since last summer! Our first mention in Volksworld!

It's been another hectic few weeks (well, that's our excuse for taking so long to update the website!) The highlights for us have included seeing 3 of our customers oval window Beetles on show at Stanford Hall:
From left to right: Phil Murgatroyd's '54 Oval,
Mark Mildren's '55 Oval, and Andrew Mearn's '54 Oval.

Phil Murgatroyd brought his totally original '54 Oval in for a partial respray just before Stanford Hall, and wih a couple of all-nighters, it was finished and ready to set off the night before the show!

This week Brian the Baja went home, after coming in for new wheels, new lights, a new bumper and side bars, new stereo and new engine tinware. Watch out Harrogate - Brian is now on the roads, and he's LOUD!

And John's camper also went home after a full respray of the exterior (John is going to sort out the interior himself, and also fit the engine etc.) John's camper is still looking for a name - he want's to go for an original German name, but so far we're struggling to come up with something that suits it! Any suggestions, e-mail dubtricks@hotmail.co.uk

This week our Trekker (Mitch) went to her new home in London. Just before she left, we fitted her with a new roll cage, matching wheels, and 3-point inertia seatbelts all round. We were very sad to see her go and a few tears were shed, but we had to make space for new projects. At least we know she has gone to a good home, and Simon has promised to take good care of her!

This weekend we picked up our new T4. She's going to be our new recovery vehicle, but we're also planning to fit a removable rock & roll bed for camping at shows......don't worry, we've already removed the taxi stickers and when we get a spare minute we're going to paint her metalic black!

We also finally finished painting Rob the Upholsterer's bike tank and fairings this weekend:
Silver undercoat and some masking Airbrushing the Suzuki logo

We will add some more photos when Rob gets around to putting his bike back together!

What a crazy week of weather! On Wednesday we were watching the first of the spring lambs being born in the sunshine, and by 2am on Sunday morning it was snowing!

Elswhere in the world of dubtricks, John's Bay has had it's final coat of primer, and is being painted as we speak (which is why we're still here at 2am on a Sunday morning!

We will add some more photos when he/she comes out of the spray booth!

VW Split Screen Camper FOR SALE - 11,500

Beautiful 1967 Split Screen Camper (Pepe). RHD Kenyan Import. Totally solid chasiss and body, but has never been welded. Good 1600 engine. Very original, one German owner from new. Would make a very easy restoration project, or could be kept original as a piece of VW history.

Madge Finally in Colour!
It's been a busy couple of weeks at Dubtricks (lots of VERY late nights!), but the end results have been worth it......Mick's Aussie import Split Screen Camper, 'Madge', is finally in colour, and she's looking gorgeous!
BEFORE After Sandblasting Mick and Madge now

There's still a lot of work to do though, and we're now in the process of rebuilding her, fitting the 1641 engine and fitting ner rear IRS suspension. Look out for more photo's of the full restoration process on our projects pages soon!
We have also been working on Nick's Baja (which is in for some customisation work, and John's Bay, which is in it's final stages of bodyworks prep before we give her a full re-spray (in Savannah Beige and Cream).
Nick's Baja (before modifications!) John's Bay, about to go into primer

In amongst all this, we also found time to go on another airbrushing course with our friends at airbrush perfections (www.airbrushperfections.com):

We have nearly finished extending our workshop. We already have space for two extra vehicles in the main workshop, and will soon have room for a further three. We will also soon have a new office, reception/waiting area, airbrushing studio and shop, all in our newly decorated 1st floor workspace - see before and after pictures below!

The Dates for this year's VW Festival have now been announced - 16 - 17 August. As this is our local show, Dubtricks are hoping to have a stand this year. Hopefully see you there!
The Calamity Project is almost finsished! After several weeks of very late nights, Sara's Beetle (Calamity) is in the final stages of restoration. Today the interior and Sun Roof were fitted (by Rob the Upholsterer) and most of the most of the exterior body work is now complete. Just the wiring, engine and rear drums to go.....and maybe a few other bits and pieces! We were hoping to unveil her at the January meeting of the Harrogate & District VW Club on 6 Jan 2008, however unavailability of escential parts over the Christmas period may have hindered this plan!
Sara has forbidden us from showing any final stage photos until she is finished, so you will have to watch this space for the final result......until then, all we can say is she is going to look amazing!
Before After

At the end of October we finished working on the 'Gmund Beetle'. Check her out on the Swissvax stand at the Classic Car Show, NEC Birmingham, 9-11 Nov 07. See our News page for the full story and Projects page for more photos!
